Job Description: Upstream Scientist in the Technical R&D Team
Reports to: TRD Upstream team- leader
Scinai is a publicly traded pharmaceutical company focused on developing products for infectious diseases and other illnesses. Our offices, labs, and GMP biologics manufacturing facility is in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem. We’re a small and dedicated team actively working on expanding and developing our pharma assets pipeline.
The primary objectives of the position
Develop and execute the fermentation process in multiple fermenters to produce proteins that treat various illnesses. The role includes R&D and cGMP work environments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute fermentation processes to produce recombinant proteins
Constantly strive for process improvement while keeping in mind large-scale production considerations
Optimize the fermentation process to meet yield goals for each protein production
Document all activities and equipment usage in appropriate logs, forms, reports, and databases
Provide a science-based approach for resolving problems, deviations, investigations, and other process issues through historical data analysis and literature screen
Keep in mind scale-up and GMP considerations through process development
Participation in QMS activities (e.g., Change Control, Deviations, Market Complaints)
Executing day-to-day activities; studying requirements, clarifying specifications as necessary, calculating calibrations, weighing components, assembling materials, and stocking supplies
Education: BSc/BA in Biology, Biotechnology, or Chemistry.
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in analytical testing in QC Lab at biopharmaceutical industry.
Technical skills:
Comprehensive understanding of upstream process development and manufacturing. Preparation and maintenance of cell banks. Seed train preparation and consideration. An advantage for fermenters and bioreactors operation and programming experiences with yeast production systems & Fed-Batch fermentation technology.
The candidate should have the ability to tackle technical problems encountered during the upstream process.
Proven experience of working in sterile environments.
Innovative approach with a keen eye for detail and good documentation abilities.
Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality Management systems.
Planning and organizational skills.
Communication and interpersonal skills- good written and verbal skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and put forth views both up and down the hierarchy.
The candidate should be a good team player, both inter and intradepartmental.

Work under pressure- should be able to work transparently while working with tight timelines.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Computer literacy - especially MS Office - is a must.
Languages (speaking, writing, and reading): Hebrew English at a professional level
